Upgrades will ensure the garden's longevity for the community it serves, and help it realize a strong vision while providing opportunities for future collaboration.
FXCollaborative, assisted by NBBJ, created a Master Plan for the Woodbine Street Block Association Garden located in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. Working in close collaboration with the community gardeners, the team held a series of interactive virtual workshops and meetings to tailor the garden's layout, style, materials, and proportions of individual components to their needs. The master plan serves as a blueprint for a range of individual projects including new planters, vertical gardens, seating, and outdoor kitchen, which the gardeners can complete in the future on their own or with volunteer assistance.

Design services were provided to the Woodbine Street Block Association Garden pro bono as a part of FXCollaborative's participation in AIA New York's annual Day of Service, which allows architects and their firms to bring ideas to life for nonprofit organizations around the city. The firm intends to volunteer on site with Rebuilding Together NYC to implement aspects of the master plan once safety concerns related to COVID-19 permit our team to do so.
