I think the most important part of the design process is immersing ourselves in context—the physical, social, and historical framework that our buildings will be a part of. To enrich the lives of those occupying our buildings, we have to understand the context in which they live.
Erica is a designer working primarily on mixed-use residential and hybrid buildings from the pre-design through construction phases. Her work intersects urban design, zoning analysis, building massing, and space programming for complex sites. In addition, she has participated in the public approval process for certain projects, working with city agencies and community leaders. She believes that collaboration is the cornerstone to success and works with clients and the design team to establish a shared vision.

Growing up in New York City, Erica had an early attraction to tall buildings and public space and has enjoyed watching the evolution of her hometown. Her passion for drawing was born from repeatedly documenting the parks, plazas, and apartments her family visited throughout her childhood, and she sees drawing as both a form of learning and a way of projecting our aspirations. Erica believes that embracing density and diversity in urban environments leads to more vibrant cities.

Erica is fascinated by the creative process. She believes that architecture, like painting, poetry, and songwriting, is about eliciting an emotional response and connecting with your audience. The challenge and thrill of this practice is taking a non-linear journey that accounts for a multitude of moving parts and reaching a finished product that stays true to a clear design sentiment.
