Moon is a planner and urban designer with a background in architecture and landscape architecture. Focusing on site planning and massing studies for a variety of urban projects, his work goes beyond the scale of the building to consider larger systems such as streetscapes, transportation, infrastructure, the neighborhood context, and social initiatives.
Drawing inspiration from a creative upbringing and multidisciplinary education, Moon is a valuable asset to project teams with his ability to act as a bridge between different consultants and professions, attention to organization and maintaining timelines, and strong software skillset, including expertise in GIS (geographic information systems). For Moon, the field of architecture is at its most fascinating when it incorporates consideration of the public realm, the social and public experience, and how it interacts with, is viewed by, and responds to the people in the neighborhood.
In addition to his work at FXCollaborative, Moon has been a visiting lecturer at the New York City branch of Cornell University's Architecture, Art, and Planning Department since 2015. Balancing practice with teaching, Moon is driven by the energy and excitement of perpetual learning, discovery, and the development of new perspectives.
