Diversity

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Collaboration is at the heart of the design process, strengthened and enriched by the contributions of those who bring diverse experiences and views. The texture of varying beliefs, values, and backgrounds informs how we see the world, and are at the very core of our ability to serve our clients and community.

We strive to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and a feeling of belonging within all facets of our practice. We nurture a culture rich in diverse talent with a staff that reflects the many faces, cultures, and walks of life that make up our world. We celebrate, advocate for, and support the rights of all regardless of gender/gender identity, culture, color, race, religion, age, physical abilities, or sexual orientation.

At FXCollaborative, we lead by example and work diligently to share our ideas and to question the status quo. We advocate for change in order to have a positive impact on our profession, our community, and the planet.

FXCollaborative is committed and constantly striving to realize the following tenets:
1. Achieve firmwide diversity goals and share metrics.
2. Use a recruiting process that increases diversity of applicants and minimizes hiring biases.
3. Provide an inclusive environment through training, mentoring, and support.
4. Prioritize diversity when creating internal teams and when selecting consultants, collaborators, and vendors.
5. Ensure that there are diverse participants on panels, in presentations, and at industry events.
6. Maintain a fair and transparent process for promotions.
7. Maintain a compensation review process that includes pay equity analysis.
8. Support flexible working patterns and work-life balance.
9. Advocate for positive change in the AEC industry by acting as a resource to firms, organizations, individuals, and clients.
10. Actively support initiatives and movements that focus on equality, anti-racism, and empowerment.

Scholarships

Along with other charitable activities, the FXCollaborative Foundation funds two yearly Scholarships to first- and fourth-year students enrolled at the CCNY Spitzer School of Architecture, CityTech, or NJIT, as well as two paid summer internships to those recipients. The goal of this scholarship is to help support and mentor students, while providing them with valuable work experience and practical tools to help pursue a career in architecture—while advancing the A/E/C industry and improving the world we live in.
