Illiana Ivanova

Illiana is a versatile architect who works across our firm's studios and typologies, and has experience across all phases of projects. She believes that clear, concise communication is key to forming and maintaining good working relationships—whether in person or through the use of technology. When starting a project, Illiana focuses on understanding the needs of the client and our team to support the overall design and project goals.

Illiana grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria, where her mother is an architect and father is an electrical engineer. Having grown up in the design and construction industry, pursuing architecture was a natural fit. Illiana has always been fascinated by the technical side of things—the systems, the details, and how a building comes together and functions. Illiana received her Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University before joining FXCollaborative over a decade ago.

Her design inspiration comes from encounters with architecture and different cultures while traveling the world. Illiana is also dedicated to sustainability and believes that flexibility, diversity, and collaboration are key elements to a better future.
