Turkey's first LEED Platinum high rise brings together sculptural massing, a textural solar-responsive skin, and numerous green spaces.
One of the tallest buildings on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, the 40-story Allianz Tower serves as the headquarters for a multinational financial services company. The tower design draws its inspiration from Istanbul's unique blend of ancient and modern elements and its position at the junction of Europe and Asia. The result is a modern skyscraper imbued with textural richness and ornamentation.

Sited at the intersection of two major highways, the tower functions as an obelisk, announcing entrance to the city from the east. Its crystalline, chiseled massing, which takes cues from Ottoman geometric motifs and surrounding local landforms, rotates 33 degrees for optimum solar control. Sustainability goals provided design parameters, leading to Turkey's first LEED Platinum high rise. The double-skin curtain wall includes stippled golden scrims to reduce heat loads. Three groupings of double-height sky gardens provide a thermal buffer, access to fresh air, and a respite for office workers.
