John is a Project Manager at FXCollaborative with experience in residential, commercial office, workplace, and higher education projects. He has held a wide range of roles on projects, demonstrating that there are many ways to influence design outcomes and that close collaboration with clients, contractors, and agencies is key to delivering design excellence. John is a true generalist who understands how to manage complex flows of information, ensuring that each individual aspect of a project relates to the larger whole.
A Brooklyn, New York native, John has always been interested in the city and its form. As a child, drawing maps of imaginary cities and places led him to consider how groups of buildings establish a collective and enduring sense of place. John is particularly interested in adaptive reuse and how, for example, some of the harsher aspects of 1970s Brutalist expression can be tempered by thoughtful intervention and renovation using more humanist materials.
John advocates for a future in which generative and iterative AI tools enable architects to spend more time in parts of the process where it is most valuable. He is hopeful that these tools will allow architects to improve their work and make it more sustainable. John has served as a lecturer and guest critic for various design schools. In his spare time, he enjoys building scale miniature box trucks and vehicles covered in graffiti, modeled after those found around Bushwick and other parts of the city.
