In this era of globalization, societies and cities struggle with the need to modernize and remain competitive against the desire to show deference to historical context. This paper presents a Case Study on Allianz Tower in Istanbul, Turkey as an insight into the challenges and synergies that arise when executing local projects in a global context, and how a design approach must address technological limitations, economic constraints and cultural differences. Influence for the Allianz Tower comes from across the world yet the design and technologies conform to the country's ideals.
