In collaboration with
A Women's Thing, we are pleased to present
Women in Spaces: Past | Present. Curated by Morgan Everhart, the exhibition features abstract paintings by artists
Anna Park, Xiaofu Wang, Julia Garcia, Marybeth Chew, and Morgan Everhart.
What is the space of the woman? The domain of the woman has historically been defined by boundaries—confined to domestic spheres, relegated to archetypes of the fragile or hysteric female, coddled within dollhouses.
Women in Spaces explores our past and present notions of roles and expectations, seeking a new survey and expansion of this realm. Through expressions of color, line, form, and emotion, we question how contemporary society conceives of boundaries, limitations, and expectations—the spaces where women are allowed the freedom to fail, open to dream, unburdened and unbound. Women are no longer of any particular place, but of and in limitless spaces.
