Join us for a presentation by Lori Brown–architect, author and professor at
Syracuse University. Her presentation will focus on the intersection of design, gender, and the making of space.
Lori's work analyzes spaces that are exclusive to women, incorporating both building code restrictions that are leveraged for exclusionary purposes as well as spatial design tactics that can begin to address the problems of gendered exclusion in space. Her most recent book,
Contested Spaces, investigates the intersections of gender, space, and activism, particularly how legislation affects politicized and scrutinized spaces. Lori is a co-founder of
ArchiteXX, a women and architecture group that supports women in architecture.
