A neighborhood within a neighborhood, the master plan and multi-building development elevate larger goals of social cohesion and equity.
Navy Green, our master plan and subsequent development of the historic Navy Brig site, a former prison, is a cornerstone and a catalyst for equitable reinvestment in Brooklyn's Wallabout neighborhood. The project transforms nearly an entire city block into a vibrant mixed-use development, setting a benchmark for neighborhood-scaled architecture that employs contextually responsive and environmentally sustainable design.

We designed two of the three residential buildings—the 112-unit R1 rental building and the 98-unit R2 condominium building—and retail space along a commercial corridor. We also collaborated on the 23 three-story townhouses with associate architect Curtis + Ginsberg. The master plan also includes a supportive housing building and an interior green space shared by the complex. The LEED Silver development incorporates efficient heating and lighting systems, stormwater reuse for irrigation, local and recycled materials, and highly reflective or planted surfaces that reduce the urban heat island effect.
