The City of New Rochelle has embarked on a visionary endeavor to create a modern, pedestrian-oriented, and well-connected facility that will serve as a bustling hub for daily commuters and visitors alike. The transformation of the station and Transit Center aligns with the downtown redevelopment strategy and will enhance the city's livability, embrace the pedestrian experience, and promote sustainable urban development.
While the current New Rochelle Transit Center campus suffers from limited connectivity and lacks a sense of arrival, our redesign will create spaces and buildings that function better and foster a sense of energy and vitality. By capitalizing on the station's historic character and introducing state-of-the-art sustainable features, we will transform the campus into a harmonious blend of old and new. Our design will extend beyond the station itself—focusing on the integration of the Intermodal Transit Center with the Train Station—and be reimagined to provide convenient retail and service areas.
