With leadership experience in design, management and business development, Serena has devoted her career to creating vibrant, sustainable environments for educational and cultural institutions. She has a nuanced understanding of the constantly evolving challenges institutions are faced with, and her expertise ranges from master planning and design of new buildings to complex, multi-phase adaptive reuse projects. She has a particular strength in designing within historic contexts.

Serena is adept at inspiring engaged teamwork throughout the life cycle of a project to create versatile spaces with enduring quality. As a strategic thinker and imaginative problem-solver, she collaborates closely with stakeholders to identify project goals and deliver meaningful architecture that reflects each institution's unique vision.

Serena co-chairs the AIA NY Education Committee, is a Fellow of the Urban Design Forum and serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Alley Pond Park. Passionate about preserving the city's wetlands and parks, she is a trained and licensed Super Steward and regularly volunteers with the NYC Parks Department. During the pandemic, she provided pro bono design services to local schools, including a special needs charter school, to plan reopening strategies.
