Wishing Partner Ann Rolland an Inspired Retirement

FXCollaborative
Ann (Annie) M. Rolland, FAIA, LEED AP, has been an integral and respected member of FXCollaborative's practice for over 28 years. Annie was vital in the development of the firm's cultural/educational practice from its inception, establishing the strategy and direction for the practice and its many award-winning projects. Working in both the private and public realm, Annie's work is defined by her ability to create designs that are cogent and innovative, expressive of their purpose and place. Her decades-long collaboration with the New York City School Construction Authority in advancing sustainability and environmental standards, and creating joyful schools for the children of the city, is among her proudest work. Other notable projects include Ramaz School and Synagogue Kehilath Jeshurun, School of American Ballet, the Statue of Liberty Museum, and the Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Campus in Nairobi, Kenya.

In addition to her project work, Annie is esteemed for her steadfast advocacy toward issues of social justice, ethical practice, and environmental stewardship. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects; a board member of Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW), an organization that trains and places women in skilled construction trades; a board member of the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, an organization that recognizes and cultivates women's contributions to the building industry; a member of AIA NYC's Committee Architecture for Education; and an active participant in Grace Farm Foundation's Design for Freedom initiative, a movement to eradicate the use of forced labor in the building materials supply chain. Both in practice and her role as advocate, Annie has been a mentor and coach to the industry's next generation. She has been an AIANY Torch and mid-career mentor, is a member of Washington University's Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts National Council, and a trustee of FXFoundation, FXCollaborative's scholarship and charitable armature.

Annie's commitment to the integrity, quality, and craft of FXCollaborative's work will be missed, as will her inquisitiveness and insatiable desire to make architecture and FXCollaborative's practice equitable, relevant, and fun. We wish Annie the very best in this new chapter of her journey.
