As part of our series of events celebrating the publication of the new monograph, FXFOWLE and AIA|DC are co-hosting a panel discussion in Washington DC on Wednesday evening, December 3rd, entitled
The Future of Architectural Journalism.
Architectural journalism provides an important filter for public understanding of the built environment and for architectural firms to communicate with the communities that they work in. The changing media landscape, however, has made it difficult for this filter to function as well as it has in the past, and this panel of writers, editors and industry leaders will discuss what they see as the future of architectural journalism (and criticism), and what that means for practitioners as well as the public.
The moderator for
The Future of Architectural Journalism is
Thomas Fisher, Professor in the School of Architecture and Dean of the College of Design at the University of Minnesota. Panelists include
Alan Brake, Executive Editor of Architect's Newspaper;
Ned Cramer, Editor-in-Chief of Architect magazine, the official publication of the American Institute of Architects;
Robert Ivy, FAIA, Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Architects;
Brad McKee, Editor of Landscape Architecture magazine, the magazine of the American Society of Landscape Architects; and
Roger Lewis, FAIA, practicing architect and urban planner, a professor emeritus of architecture at the University of Maryland College Park, a writer and a cartoonist.
