Our Rainbow: Pride Month 2021

FXCollaborative
This Pride Month, we are sharing the colors that represent us to paint our very own rainbow! We asked our staff for the color that they most identify with and a reason why. See below for their responses.

• "It is a strong and intense color while also being captivating and warm."—Fernanda Freitas
• "Joy, serenity, and peace!"—Daniel Chilcote
• "Whether sky or sea, clothing or buildings, I find myself getting lost in blue ... often."—Gustavo Rodriguez
• "It is the first crayon color I was drawn to and learned its name. In my teens I recognized it as basically FLW's color at Fallingwater and I was reminded of why I love it. I love red and brown together, and this fits that range."—Nicholas Garrison
• "It is bold, energetic, and clear. It can highlight and clarify or be a base and consistent—this duality is what I strive for."—Tyler Cukar

• "Red, as the color of blood spilled and the burning fire of dissent. Red, as the color of the skies sunrise at the dawn of a new day."—Peter Ogman
• "My favorite photo is of my daughter and me singing together against the backdrop of the yellow painted walls of a practice room at the Brooklyn Music School. The yellow feels as warm, bright, bouncy, fresh, hopeful, rich, open, and optimistic as a youthful song."—Toby Snyder
• "I just like the combination of the colors of pink and green. It's a contrast of each other and that represents me. There's two sides to me."—Patty Wong
• "Out of gamut, overwhelming, electric—I feature this cobalt blue as both a pop of color throughout my apartment and an occasional sucker punch to the eyeballs when crafting the graphics for a presentation."—Amy Shell
• "I like its energy, its playfulness. It's perfect for that little pop of color!"—Nadia Samuelson

• "The orange color found in the morning sky, as the day begins, never fails to inspire."—Peter Olney
• "It's a close-up picture of the sun shade that I use at the beach. When I was growing up we had a boat that was the same color. It reminds me of summer and relaxing at the beach, one of my favorite things."—Joe Pikiewicz
• "It makes me think of an ocean, lake, or a large river which can be calm, serene, peaceful, deep, but also turbulent, free-flowing, sometimes taking you on unexpected turns and finds, and a place for leisurely fun. My personality identifies well with all of the above."—Emau Vega
• "The trail markers in the Adirondacks are a deep yellow that reminds me that even though I'm in the wilderness, I will eventually find my way back."—Peter Baldwin
• "The color is fun, not quite one thing or another, but unique and powerful."—Kimberley Petredis

• "To me it represents moderation, stability, responsibility, and safety. It symbolizes cooler temperatures, the oceans, and the sky just after the sun fully sets."—Kenneth Bohall
• "Blue sky thinking."—Guy Geier
• "Hot pink has chased me my whole life. I've avoided it for so long, I've finally realized how much it defines me by its absence."—Angie Lee
• "I like dark olive because it's a subtle, but unique color to wear amongst a sea of NYC black. Wearing this color allows me to blend into both urban and natural environments, facilitating my role as an explorer, observer, and photographer without drawing attention."—Frank Lindemann
• "The ink blue color reminds me of the river that flows by the city close to where I grew up. The water was extremely cold to swim in but refreshing in the summer."—Martin Scott

• "I grew up next to the beach and this color always reminds me of home. It is very calming yet expressive just like the waters of the Gulf of Mexico can be."—Melanie Strieder
• "This color reminds me of both the forest and the ocean simultaneously."—Matthew Addeo
• "It renders calmness, it eases up my mind and brings harmony in the midst of this chaotic world."—Nina Rivas
• Why? "Because I do."—Rajas Karnik
• "I love how much this shade reminds me of a shade of gold, that depending on the situation, like how I see myself, it can be something neutral that stays as an observer. In other cases, it can be a shimmery, bold, loud voice in the room that wants to stand out!"—Sara Ngan

• "I think about the ocean all of the time, not looking from the beach but being out in deep water—blue headed toward gray is how I think of it."—Jason Voss
• "I've loved this orange as a child. Not sure what inspired me at the time, but it has definitively stuck with me over the years."—Iva Zoretic
• "The color of my favorite table, and my mom's favorite car. Seeing this color makes me feel at ease and energized!"—Laura Maund
• "Stunning sunsets, fresh spring roses, and raspberry cream—what's not to love about hot pink!? As I've gotten older, I've learned to embrace the joy in life—no pale colors for me!"—Leslie Jenkins
• "I hope to embody some of the same good vibes that this color gives off. It is cheerful, optimistic and downright sunshiny!"—Leslie Infanger

• "Trustworthy and comfort."—Lee Hantz
• "It's a quiet and subtle color kind of like me, and I like blue."—Christos Constantinou
• "While calm and grounded in many ways, I also love to share experiences with others, and strive to add a bit of brightness to my community."—Chelsea Crisafulli

• "I love the range of greens, yellows, and browns in landscapes. It's never one pure color, but a collage that is greater than the sum of its parts."—Ann Charleston
• "I am intrigued by colors that are multi-dimensional—not red, not orange, not brown. I think of myself as warm, receptive, and multi-dimensional in my approach and nature. And it certainly helps that it reminds me of the red clay at Roland Garros."—Ann Rolland
• "A happy color inspired by our amazing sun. My go-to accent color that brings 'light' into drawings."—Carol Hsiung
