Due to the ongoing pandemic, FXCollaborative is celebrating Pride virtually this June, led by our Employee Resource Group FXOne. FXOne is a forum to recognize and raise awareness of LGBTQ issues within FXCollaborative and in the architecture and design industry. This Pride month, we continue to fight against systemic inequality, racism, anti-Black violence, and all forms of oppression.
In addition to a series of virtual tours, talks, and film screenings, FXOne hosted an event to educate ourselves about LGBTQ+ history and activism through trivia.
As a special note, one of our original trivia items was about the number of states and territories in the United States that do not have employment nondiscrimination laws to protect LGBTQ+ people. As of June 15, 2020, the answer is zero. The Supreme Court ruled that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. This is a victory for all of our diverse and unique voices.
Many youth experience homelessness, and between 20% and 45% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ. More information can be found in the report
