Improving the Homes and Lives of New Yorkers

FXCollaborative
We spent a day in Far Rockaway, Queens volunteering with Rebuilding Together NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of affordable housing for low-income residents of New York City.

We had the pleasure of assisting 73-year old Sylvia, a long-time Far Rockaway resident who has struggled with home repairs after Hurricane Sandy. We provided much-needed yard repairs, such as clearing debris, demolishing a damaged fence, and laying out a new wall.

Rebuilding Together NYC accomplishes its mission with the help of volunteers and skilled tradespeople through a variety of program initiatives that are specifically designed to keep residents safely in their communities. This may include critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, or renovating community spaces.

Regardless of your skills or expertise, Rebuilding Together NYC welcomes individual volunteers and groups. The organization will place you or your group on a single home or community project that serves team building goals and values, and allows for easy coordination, including scheduling, travel, or project logistics.

There are many ways to give back to New Yorkers, and we think Rebuilding Together NYC is a wonderful way to make a difference in someone's life.
