MCM XV, a fifteen-year retrospective featuring mosaic wall sculptures by Michael Curry, is on view in the FXCollaborative Gallery from November 1 - January 4, 2019.
MCM XV presents prototypes of Michael's key designs as well as images of some of the commissioned installations they have inspired.
Red Mercury Mirror, 2012
Putting a modern spin on the ancient art of mosaics, Michael creates one of a kind wall sculptures for design teams, commercial settings, and private homes. Constructed with innovative, three dimensional techniques, these hand cut mosaics offer kinetic appeal as they meld both color and shape.
Reflection of Diamond, 2013
"As a child, I was given a set of Play Plax blocks. I would sit and create with the luminous, interlocking pieces for hours, holding them up to the light, mesmerized by the way in which the shapes and colors could blend and morph. That same fascination is what drives my work today: the three dimensional aspect employed in all of my pieces serves as a means to experiment with color transformation, reflection, and shadow. Whatever the approach, the ultimate goal remains the same: to create a hypnotic experience for the viewer, much as my colorful blocks did for me." --Michael Curry
Meld, 2008
