FXFOWLE recently completed the offices of Almanac, a real estate investment firm located in midtown Manhattan. The design draws inspiration from the firm's distinguished Rothschild lineage, using contemporary and mid-century modern furnishings.
To illustrate this merging of the past and present, I engaged the many talents of our office, and a few friends, in a unique photo shoot to create a "Mad Men meets Wallpaper" setting. The shoot took place after office hours and was filled with the fast-paced energy of models changing between scenes and photographers darting about the rooms, clicking from all angles to capture the perfect shot.

Justyna's look was achieved by fashion editor Johnny Vendiola, keeping in mind that she's playing a role in this architectural episode. Her look reflects a strong, modern aesthetic with makeup by MAC and her office attire is all about bold shapes and colors.

Colin's "Mad Men" vintage look compliments the modern office setting that includes Eames and Florence Knoll furniture. The photo illustrates the office's dramatic views towards Times Square as well as along the Avenue of the Americas with car lights streaming up and down the major thoroughfare.

The colorful, sweeping brush strokes of Suzanne Unrein's Copulative Magnum, 2010 create the perfect backdrop to Almanac's boardroom while her Tongue Chewers, 2012 is the focus of the adjacent reception area. Both are captured in Coe's dynamic shot of Almanac's main entry.

This photo of the firm's north lounge highlights the dramatic view of Times Square and its theatrical lights. Justyna frames the view wearing Missoni while Colin's relaxed attire reveals a splash of color as he reclines in an Eames lounge, part of the Herman Miller Collection. The terrarium, courtesy of the Mroweic-Chun Collection, is from West Elm.
