The new Communication Center establishes a prominent entrance to the western edge of the Lehman College campus. The station functions as a central command center for campus security and as its emergency response headquarters. The straightforward program informed the simple geometric design: a metal-clad cylinder is wrapped with windows that afford 360-degree views and are protected by a spiraling canopy. Accents of golden limestone harmonize with existing collegiate Gothic granite buildings nearby. Adjacent to the Center, a new plaza transitions between pedestrian paths and a landscaped seating area for students and faculty.
