The Kings County Criminal Courthouse project is a major renovation of the historic court building located at 120 Schermerhorn Street, facing Smith and State Streets. The original 1930 structure was designed by Collins & Collins in the Renaissance Revival Style. FXCollaborative retained the character of the original style, while upgrading the affected spaces to modern standards. The renovation includes restacking and re-planning of departmental spaces with new arrest-to-arraignment areas, lighting, and finish upgrades. The main lobby and arraignment courtrooms received historically sensitive renovations with new lighting, communications, and HVAC.
