Simple, well-placed interventions—plantings, varied seating, and security barriers—define the company's brand, balancing warmth with strength.
After separately from its corporate parent, AVAYA Communications moved its headquarters to a typical, early-1980's suburban office park in New Jersey—but the space would need a dramatic upgrade to accurately reflect the firm's high-tech identity. We designed a new entrance that fits over the existing structure—a three-story lobby with a frosted canopy, supported by 36.5-foot-tall suspended glass structural fins, tapered near the ground and capped with an innovative glass return. A crisp arc of suspended glazing covers the entirety of the frontage, while the frosted glass creates a dynamic, visual counter-point to the sheer wall. The light-filled atrium offers scale, while a generous lobby skylight softens the opaque glass during the day.
