FXCollaborative elegantly integrated three diverse occupancies within The Epic, a 58-story mixed-use tower in Midtown Manhattan. The project utilizes the air rights of the adjacent St. Francis of Assisi Church. An extension at the tower's base provides offices, a chapel, a library, and housing for the friars. A new four-story façade on 32nd Street establishes a strong identity for the new headquarters for the American Cancer Society and its Hope Lodge treatment center and hospice. Marking the entrance to the residential units from 31st Street is a new one-story pavilion consisting of a glazed portal with stone surround leading to a tranquil forecourt. The 438 luxury apartment units begin at the 12th floor, where the tower's form cantilevers slightly and continues to rise, culminating in a roof terrace.
