The Stillwell Avenue Terminal is an intermodal station in Coney Island, Brooklyn, serving the D, F, N, and Q lines of the New York City subway system and several major commuter bus routes. The existing station required a complete structural overhaul and improvements to circulation, accessibility, and security. FXCollaborative also restored the existing historic terracotta BMT façade and provided new retail space. Inspired by Coney Island's iconic amusement park structures, the architects designed a 76,000-square-foot glass and steel-arched truss canopy with integrated photovoltaic panels to span four platforms and eight tracks.
