Elevating the notion of connectivity allowed us to reinterpret the nature of long spans, maximize space for public use, and provide a link to the city's cultural and commercial developments, ultimately serving as a gateway between the old, new and future Dubai.
For one of the most architecturally daring cities in the world, a bridge spanning a prominent canal would need to be immediately iconic. Comprised of a pair of asymmetrical arch bridges, our design is based on an exploration of the essence of the typology: connection. Our inspiration for the formal resolution of the bridge's design came from multiple sources that evoked similar imagery: sand dunes, waves on the Dubai Creek, and the crescent moon.
