Wholly humanist designed for high-performance, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund offices reflect the organization's renewed commitment to sustainability, collaboration, and an appreciation for nature in an urban setting.
Previously located in an outdated, closed-office environment in midtown Manhattan that fragmented its staff, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund sought new corporate offices that could serve as a change agent for the organization, foster teamwork, and speak to its global initiatives in sustainability and economic development. We worked with the RBF to renovate its new location in a midcentury building on Morningside Heights. Inside, a common area called the Grants Hub highlights the Fund's core business and serves as a central place for staff to convene, discuss grant-related issues, and review proposals. Informed by the building's architectural style, a selection of mid-century modern furnishings are placed throughout the open-plan layout, and complement a neutral palette of local and sustainable materials. The entire interior is configured to optimize daylight exposure, as well as shared, communal space that opens up to pastoral views of the Palisades and the Hudson River.
