In an industry striving to address the debt of its carbon footprint, a deeply sustainable air traffic control tower design acts as a beacon for a more sustainable aviation future.
Our iconic design, a collaboration with Severud Associates and WSP, focuses on sustainability through innovations in materials, structural efficiency, and construction methods. Designed to be replicable and adaptable to a range of locations, the primary structure is a combination of dimensional lumber, manufactured wood products, and engineered wood. Parametric modeling and analysis determined the ideal geometric configurations for both the superstructure as a whole and its unitized components. The FXCollaborative team was one of just 16 Offerors shortlisted by the FAA for the Round II Competition.
