Smooth, rounded forms, solar responsive façade, and sky gardens create a new model for sustainable hospital and medical offices.
Located in the heart of a new financial district in Istanbul's Atasehir district, the new Acibadem development is comprised of two striking buildings—a Class A office building and a healthcare facility—atop a two-story podium anchored by a landscaped, tiered courtyard. The 12-story buildings have distinctive, rounded forms that integrate sustainability and green spaces as key elements of their design strategy. Each has its own street frontage, entry court, and lobby, and features a sophisticated brise soleil sun-shading system, floor-to-ceiling glass, efficient lighting and mechanical systems, and two-story indoor-outdoor sky gardens. The medical center accommodates the area's growing population with a series of cafés, shops, and other amenities within the podium. The courtyard offers a range of patios, sunken gardens, and terraces, which allow the space to be comfortably occupied all year around.
