FXCollaborative's master plan for Pace University's Manhattan campus addressed the university's changing cultural and programmatic needs and emphasizes the identity of the university and its colleges in Lower Manhattan. The master plan holistically reimagined the campus and enhanced connections: the connection of the university to the city and the street; the connection of interior spaces to light, air, and views; and the connection of Pace students to each other and broader university community.
The plan recommended updated building façades to emphasize Pace's identity with larger entrances, more defined signage, and the creation of a new front door for the university at Pace Plaza. Following the completion of the master plan, FXCollaborative designed two renovation projects that transformed the university's flagship buildings—One Pace Plaza, the university's signature mid-century building, and the nearby 41 Park Row, a New York City landmark and former home of The New York Times.
