In partnership with Arup and CO Architects, FXCollaborative is designing a new sustainable office building in Sacramento for the California Department of General Services. The 17-story building will relate to the scale of the adjacent historic Heilbron House, and to the site lines and positioning of nearby related buildings.

The building will provide 800,000 square feet of office space for a range of Resources agencies, including Parks, Fish and Wildlife, Conservation, and CalFire. Initial programming analysis considered the project's aspirations and the breakdown of office and amenity spaces for multiple agencies to recommend the relocation and removal of unnecessary space, reduction of redundancies, standardization, and right-sizing of workspaces. FXCollaborative's planning addresses key issues of daylighting and sustainability; program/workplace compatibility and structural system compatibility; healthy workplace environments with integrated tenant amenities; layout connectivity; and the appropriate balance between collaborative spaces, workstation modules, enclosed meeting rooms, and private offices. In addition, the building will feature a double-height entrance lobby, food court, auditorium, conference center, fitness center, retail, and below-grade parking.
