How does an independent, college preparatory Quaker school in downtown Brooklyn expand with limited space to devote to new programs, and which of its distinct offerings would be best served by a new location?
Having originally planned to move its Lower School to a separate site, our team realized, through careful analysis and test-fits, that moving their Upper School to the nearby Metrotech campus would better serve their long-term goals. Taking design cues from the Quaker tenets of simplicity and clarity, the building is flooded with natural light and organic materials across three floors—creating a unified, active space for learning. Rather than narrow corridors, rooms are connected by open galleries and informal gathering spaces, fostering collaboration.
