Our play in scale, contemporary materials and massing creates an iconic but familiar form on the Brooklyn skyline.
Tasked with a site that sat directly between the classic brownstones of Fort Greene and the glittering new skyscrapers of downtown Brooklyn, The Ashland, a 53-story, 586-unit mixed used residential tower, deftly performs a balancing act between old and new; big and small. The Ashland's east side takes its cues from the vertiginous glass towers of downtown Brooklyn, offering residents floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive views. Alternately, the west side rises out of historic Fort Greene both visually and materially— two colors of brick mirror surrounding brownstones while limestone matches the Williamsburg Savings Bank, its iconic neighbor to the south. This respect for its surroundings can be also seen at the street level with a wide variety of retail, commercial, and amenity spaces for residents.
