Arts, music, dance and digital production facilities offer contemporary activities, while independent pathways to each club vary circulation patterns and invoke a sense of adventure.
For the first Boys & Girls Club in New York City building since 1970, we were tasked to reimagine their program to meet what today's teenager cares about—while providing an engaging, exciting hub for the broader community. Our design proposal for a new clubhouse in Central Harlem staggers the larger footprints (gym, pool, and auditorium), allowing daylight to penetrate the entire volume. The structure opens to the street to invite the community inside.
