Process

FXCollaborative is vigorously and determinedly engaged in reinventing the urban condition, operating according to the beliefs that every contribution must belong to its place and time, embody the story of institutional and individual aspiration, and create a dynamic relationship between the natural and built environments. Architecture must stimulate and inspire.

The firm's work ranges from the scale of the individual building—including adaptive re-use and renovation to new construction— to the city as a whole, addressing planning and infrastructure design. At the onset of each project, we complete a comprehensive environmental analysis and facilitates a series of sustainability workshops with the owner and project team to establish goals. As the design evolves, Building Information Modeling (BIM) software assists the team in evaluating how decisions relate to environmental conditions and enables them to optimize building performance. Following construction, the firm conducts post-occupancy analysis surveys and reports, evaluating both performance objectives and occupant comfort.

Throughout each project, our role is to guide and orchestrate the realization of environmental goals within the greater context of aesthetic, programmatic, economic and technical requirements. This transparent, thoughtful, and rigorous design process ensures a completed project that sits lightly on the land while enhancing its existing context.
