Serena Losonczy

AIA, LEED AP
Senior Associate, Studio Director

What I love about architecture is its ability to transcend cultures, generations, the passage of time—to move us at a fundamentally human level. Like music and art, it is a universal language that we respond to intuitively.
Serena believes that architecture is about relationships and that it can shape how people relate to the world and to each other – how we experience life. She has devoted her career to working with mission-driven educational and cultural institutions, with a particular strength in designing within historic contexts. Her people-centered and contextual approach to architecture consistently delivers evocative spaces with an identifiable and welcoming sense of place. As a strategic thinker and imaginative problem-solver, she is adept at inspiring engaged teamwork throughout the life cycle of a project to create versatile spaces with enduring quality.

Serena co-chairs the AIA NY Committee on Architecture for Education, is President-Elect of the Association for Learning Environments-New York Chapter and serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Alley Pond Park. She has published numerous articles on school design and frequently shares her knowledge through webinars and conferences. Passionate about preserving the city's wetlands and parks, she is a trained and licensed Super Steward and regularly volunteers with the NYC Parks Department.
