FXCollaborative Announces Principal Promotions
FXCollaborative has promoted Austin Sakong, Tim Sudweeks, and Toby Snyder to Principal.

Each has made lasting contributions to our practice through thoughtful leadership, a deep commitment to our clients and communities, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of architects. Their promotions to Principal recognize not only their individual achievements, but also the collective impact they have on our culture and the future of the firm. We are thrilled to welcome them into this important leadership role."

Austin Sakong is the Design Director of FXCollaborative's Cultural and Educational Studio, where he focuses on projects for mission-driven institutions, including K-12, higher education, performing arts, international schools, and non-profit organizations. His practice is informed by his belief that architecture and urban design are humanist pursuits, and that the quality of our built environment, like that of literature, hinges on its ability to articulate meaning, stories, and life.
Recently, Austin has led complex projects ranging from the adaptive reuse of Kingsbridge Armory to the renovation of the Pace University Sands College of Performing Arts. He teaches architecture and urban design at Columbia University and New York University; and is an active member in his community in Jersey City, where he serves as a Commissioner on the Jersey City Historic Preservation Commission.
Tim Sudweeks seeks to strengthen and develop the interconnections between a client's needs, the users, and the surrounding environment whether the development is mixed-use, cultural, educational, commercial, residential, convention centers, or green roofs. As a project architect and project manager, each project he touches becomes a unique and efficient response to a nuanced program.
Tim's expertise in Passive House standards has contributed to our proactive approach to carbon-reduction while making comfortable and affordable environments. He has led projects including 95 Madison Avenue Conversion and the repositioning of 3 Times Square. Foremost in his mind is developing a strong community that can stabilize a neighborhood—in so doing, building a success story that makes green architecture truly capable of being sustained.
Toby Snyder believes that a city is not just an aggregation of social and political groups and flows of capital; it is also an act of design. Toby's passion and commitment to urban design, creative community development, and sustainable architecture stem from a belief that the challenges to contemporary society's cities, neighborhoods, and buildings can only be resolved if they are seen in relation to each other.
As an architect and planner, Toby has led projects including 1 Park Point and Chelsea Canvas, working in all phases of design from master planning to construction administration. Sustainability and affordability are more than buzz words to him: he views each facet of his work—from his designs to the way he talks about projects to how he works in the office—as contributing to a more sustainable and more affordable world.
