As we begin the new year, FXCollaborative extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to Heidi Blau, FAIA on her retirement. Over the course of 23 years, Heidi has profoundly shaped our practice and elevated our reputation through projects that enrich the urban fabric of New York City.
Heidi's leadership on transformative projects—from the revitalization of
Lincoln Center to the award-winning flagship home for
Covenant House New York—demonstrates a deep commitment to design excellence and social impact. Heidi's focus on educational and cultural projects, and her ability to reimagine existing structures to meet contemporary needs, exemplifies a sustainable and visionary approach to architecture.

Guided by a belief in the power of architecture to create community and foster personal growth, Heidi has been a mentor and advocate for emerging talent. Her encouragement and support have helped shape the next generation of design leaders and contributed to the vibrant culture of FXCollaborative.
As Chief Operations Officer, Heidi provided steadfast leadership during a pivotal time, helping the firm navigate the challenges emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic and positioning the firm for continued growth. Her strategic thinking and dedication to integrating design at every level of practice have left an enduring mark on our organization.
A Fellow of the AIA since 2013, Heidi has been a thoughtful and active contributor to AIANY through her work on the Professional Practice, Honors and Awards, Nominating, and Fellows Committees. Her leadership within the broader AEC community has been recognized with honors including the Woman of Achievement Award from Professional Women in Construction and the Outstanding Woman Award from the Women Builders Council.
We wish Heidi all the best as she embarks on this next chapter, filled with travel and tennis. Her legacy at FXCollaborative will continue to inspire us!
