Vertical construction has started on 555 E Street SW, a new 12-story, mixed-use building in Washington, DC. Located in the city's Southwest neighborhood, the building covers nearly a full city block near the Smithsonian Institution and the National Mall, and is comprised of 194 mixed-income rental apartments, including 58 affordable units set aside for senior housing, and a separate section featuring a 252-room citizenM hotel. The building's ground floor features storefront retail space.

"555 E Street will bring new residents and businesses to the area, and activate the neighborhood with lively public spaces, such as retail and a hotel," said Joe Pikiewicz, Project Manager at FXCollaborative. "We've created a dynamic design for the building, crafted with rich materiality and an attention to detail that ties it to its existing DC context."
