Panel Discussion Explores Challenges Facing Megacities

FXCollaborative
In collaboration with the National Academy Museum & School, we are the sponsors and co-organizers of a panel discussion that explores the challenges facing megacities. City Regenerative: Rebuilding the City in Harmony with Nature takes place on Wednesday, March 18, from 6:30-8 PM at the National Academy Museum & School, Fifth Avenue at 89th, New York, NY.

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. RSVP to communications@nationalacademy.org.

The term "regenerative" describes processes that restore, renew and revitalize, creating sustainable systems that incorporate the needs of society with the integrity of the natural world. A panel of journalists, architects, designers, and public officials will explore these processes, and discuss the impact of climate change on infrastructure and urban development, and the challenges we face as megacities expand and densify.

"City Regenerative" is moderated by Kenneth Schwartz, Favrot Professor and Dean, and Director, Phyllis M. Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking, Tulane School of Architecture. Panelists include Ariella Cohen, Executive Editor and Interim Director, Next City; Robert Eisenstat, AIA, LEED AP, Chief Architect, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Porie Saikia-Eapen, AIA, FCIOB, Director of Sustainability and Environmental Compliance, Metropolitan Transportation Authority NY; Bradley Samuels, Partner, SITU Studio; Jeffrey Shumaker, Chief Urban Designer, New York City Department of City Planning.
