Daylight Hour 2021

FXCollaborative
This year we are participating in Daylight Hour while working remotely, but we look forward to working from our bright new offices at 1 Willoughby Square very soon! The new office is fitted with daylight sensors that will automatically turn down the electrical light as daylight increases, which will allow us to automatically celebrate Daylight Hour year-round!

Here's an image from a recent site visit to our new office at 1 Willoughby Square. Our daylight meters were reading 520 lux with the lights on, and 245 lux with lights off.

The graph shows the energy demand at different times of the day in New York State in 2019. Reducing energy use during peak load hours is beneficial because it decreases the strain on the grid as a whole. That is why Daylight Hour takes place close to the summer solstice when there is the most natural light during the day and there is the most strain on energy sources.

Participate in Daylight Hour with us by turning off or lowering your lights for one hour!
