For International Womxn's Day 2021, We Choose to Challenge

FXCollaborative
This International Womxn's Day, on March 8, 2021, FXCollaborative chooses to challenge.

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions—all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate womxn's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. Below are statements from our staff about what and why they choose to challenge.

"I choose to challenge gender bias and inequality so that no young woman is denied a career she loved as my mother was, and no young woman is demeaned about her career choice as I was when applying to graduate school."—Heidi Blau

"We can fool ourselves to think we are doing better because we are more aware and have the desire to do so; but the reality is that womxn remain undervalued in terms of pay equity and advancement (which go hand and hand)—with major impact on their freedoms, self-esteem, and access to influence."—Ann Rolland

"I choose to challenge gender bias and inequality because my daughters deserve the same opportunities as my sons."—Brian Fanning

"I am committed to supporting equitable practices in all aspects of my personal and professional life."—Guy Geier

"I choose to challenge gender bias and inequality because womxn make up more than half of the US population, have earned more degrees than men, and yet a still undervalued and underrepresented in every sector of our workforce."—Chelsea Crisafulli

"Honoring those who fought before me, the ones fighting today next to me, and especially the ones coming behind me. I will stand against and challenge any form of inequality any form of bias any form of discrimination."—Nina Rivas

"I will support women by standing up for them, standing by them, standing behind them, and sometimes just standing aside."—Jack Robbins

"As an architect, I will work to break the habit of relying on gender stereotypes. Gender should not be a factor in whether someone pursues interior design or exterior design roles. We need to turn this inside out!"—Toby Snyder

"I choose to celebrate the accomplishments of women and advocate for their success by calling out inequality and bias. I also choose to educate my boys that women's issues are their issues too!"—Shannon Rodriguez

"I choose to challenge to be an example of what is possible and because adversity is a terrible thing to waste."—Jodie Quinter

"I choose to challenge gender stereotypes because diversity in our teams elevates the quality of our work."—Michael Syracuse

"I choose to challenge gender bias and inequality because it is the right thing to do and long overdue!"—John Schuyler

"Super SHEros are expected to cook, clean, take care of home, save the world, and work twice as hard as their male counter parts. For all that SHEros do they shouldn't be paid equally, they should be paid MORE!"—Teyana Chin

"I choose to challenge antiquated gender roles and how we look at advocacy. My niece deserves every opportunity that my nephews do, and we all deserve to live in a world where there is equity for womxn, all BIPOC persons, and the LGBTQ+ community."—Sara Ngan

"I will challenge bias everyday, so that my nieces can grow up in a world where they are free to be who they want to be. I will challenge the people who ignore the voice and expertise of my female colleagues."—Gustavo Rodriguez

"As the parent of an 18-month-old, worries of bias and inequality immediately turn to my daughter Lina and her future. My wife and I are striving to raise her to be a confident, independent, and creative child. We hope she will trust her abilities and skills enough to challenge assumptions, biases, and perceived limits to what she can do."—Luis Bustamante
