Did you know that Elyse Keaton in the 1980s sitcom
Family Ties was the first female architect portrayed on TV? Or that the first woman to receive an AIA Gold Medal was Julia Morgan in 2014 ... even though she died in 1957?
The FXC+WSP Trivia Challenge brought together a diverse group of colleagues from FXCollaborative and WSP for an evening of fun and networking, where architects and engineers tested their knowledge of buildings and structures, learned about women in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry, and strengthened ties between our firms.

Between the laughter, surprises, and head-scratching, there was a wealth of information—because learning
can be fun. Participants expanded their trivia base to include facts such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Ennis House serving as a backdrop in the film
Blade Runner, and that the Olympics awarded medals for architecture from 1912 to 1948. More importantly, participants learned that according to recent studies, only 18% of licensed US architects are female and only 14.5% of US employed engineers are female. Coming from different sectors of the AEC industry, our architects and engineers gained awareness and knowledge—the first step towards meaningful progress.
Special thanks to all our colleagues at
WSP.
