Gale Rothstein: She Dreams

Juxtapositions of the familiar, found, and fragmented, Gale Rothstein's assemblages evoke both wonder and whimsy.
In her latest exhibition She Dreams, Gale presents sculptural collages of uniquely surrealistic environs created from recontextualized collectibles, discarded objects, hardware, and the harvested innards of broken appliances. Each piece is rife with narratives and interpretations, inciting contemplative visual explorations into each complex composition of figurines, tools, and what-have-its. Influenced by personal and historical frameworks, Gale Rothstein is a New York-based artist and former professional jewelry designer. She was recently named the winner of the 2018 Carolyn Edlund Artsy Shark New Beginnings Award.
