How to Make a Foam Tree

Are your architectural models looking a little bleak? Looking for a way to make the view a bit greener? In today's instructional blog post, architectural model maker Miwa Fukui explains how to make a realistic foam tree in 6 simple steps.

WHAT YOU NEED
FOAM, PINS, UTILITY KNIFE, SOBO GLUE, SCISSORS, SPRAY PAINT

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cut foam block into small rectangles with utility knife.

2. Place pins. Use liberal amounts of Sobo to keep the pins in position.

3. Trim foam with scissors to create small facets.

4. Spray lightly with white paint. This will help you better distinguish the highlights and shadows.

5. Continue to trim down foam to make an airy, leafy surface.

6. Spray paint the bottom dark green and then mid-green all over.  Add a lighter color to accentuate the top. Miniature forest finished!
