Women of FXCollaborative as Role Models

FXCollaborative
Model Shop
We had the pleasure of hosting twenty-seven young women from the Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI-NYC) to introduce them to the field of architecture through presentations, panel discussions, and an interactive tour of our office.

The high school students came from across New York City's five boroughs to meet with Women of FXWomen, who shared their personal experiences and broke down myths and stereotypes surrounding architecture as a profession (such as, contrary to popular belief, high-level math skills are not a prerequisite to being a successful architect). From viewing our model shop's physical 3D visualizations to experiencing our Design Technology Group's virtual 3D visualizations, the students learned that 'architecture' encompasses more than designing buildings with pen and trace paper.

The GSLI-NYC's mission is to ensure that young women gain leadership skills and have significant access to successful female role models. We were honored to share our work and experiences with the group, and believe that there are endless opportunities for all young women to work in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
