Snapshots: Iceland

FXCollaborative
The Snapshots series is an informal and personal photographic look at architecture and other forms of visual culture.

In this edition of Snapshots, Ilana Judah, Director of Sustainability, shares with us a few impressions of the architecture and landscapes of Iceland, where she recently completed a trek from Landmannalaugar to Porsmork. Aside from the impressive fact that Iceland derives 85% of its power from renewable resources (geothermal and hydroelectric), Ilana was drawn to the country by the raw landscape and powerful presence of its volcanoes and glaciers.

Due to a lack of local building materials, much of the architecture is built with corrugated steel, which is both cheap and durable
