A Pleasant Reminder

FXCollaborative
As enjoyable as my short tenure here at FXFOWLE has been, my favorite experience thus far was Kids' Day, held Friday, August  17th. No offense to the very mature, professional, and deadline-driven parents that make up this wonderful firm, but they have nothing on their children, whose personalities run the gamut from quiet and introspective to boisterous and free-spirited. It was a pleasure meeting and spending the day with all of them.

Children never cease to amaze me in how freely and openly they interact with one another, as if they have been friends their entire lives. It is truly an inspiration--we could all take a page out of their book on life.

New friends

With seemingly boundless amounts of energy and vigor, the children kept me on my toes throughout the day. Their creativity was astounding, and I admired the focus with which the children worked on models with Kaz, some making two or three trips back to ensure theirs was just right.  Miraculously, they were able to filter out any distractions during story time (and there were more than a few) as they listened attentively to Alissa and Pascale. The children's focus and attention to detail serves as a testament to the collective parenting prowess of my colleagues, who demonstrate these same qualities daily in their work, as well as in the individual relationships they have fostered here at the office.

Kids' Day was a pleasant reminder--a reminder of "what we do this for."  In some cases, we do this so that our children won't have to struggle to overcome the same obstacles that we faced at their age. In others, we do it to give them the aspiration, and inspiration, to reach for even higher goals. In any case, one thing is true, we do "this" for them.
